Aldridge: Moyes will get time

John Aldridge insists Real Sociedad supporters will give new boss David Moyes time when he takes over at Anoeta.

Moyes has penned an 18-month deal with the Basques and will be hoping to steer them into the top half of the League after a disastrous start to the 2014-15 campaign under Jagoba Arrasate.

Nonetheless, Aldridge, who became La Real’s first non-Basque signing when he joined from Liverpool in 1989, told Sky Sports News he believes the former Everton and Manchester United manager will be given every opportunity to succeed in San Sebastian.

“I see the Basques as lovely, very proud people and they will give him every chance.

“When I arrived there was a bit of scepticism but when I managed to get a few goals there were on problems.

“It’s a great place to live,” said Aldridge, who scored 33 La Liga goals in two seasons before returning to England to join Tranmere Rovers.
