Xabi Prieto: Moyes a step forward

Real Sociedad captain Xabi Prieto believes the appointment of David Moyes as boss is a step in the right direction.

The Scot’s unveiling as Coach at Anoeta has suffered a slight delay as a few minor details are sorted out, but Prieto is hoping that when he arrives he can repeat with the Basque outfit what he achieved in his time at Everton.

“We are looking forward to getting to know him, working with him, and I feel it’s a step forward,” he told a Press conference.

“I think he’s a Coach with a great reputation and he has done well in England, so hopefully he can also demonstrate his qualities with us.

“It’s very difficult for a Coach to be so many years at a club like Everton and that’s a sign he did things very well, improved them, and he got them into Europe.

“I don’t know him personally but I really like the Premier League. I get to watch it, like all the other Leagues, and we know what it’s like.

“I’m sure he’ll also do the same thing in the Spanish League but I don’t think Moyes will arrive here without knowing anything about it,” he claimed.

The 31-year-old, who has spent his entire career with La Real, acknowledged that the recognition Moyes has achieved in England appealed to him from the first moment his name was linked to the club.

“At first I was surprised as he is someone who has just come from coaching one of the biggest clubs in the world at Manchester United, so when they gave us the news he would be our boss I was happy.

“I’m already looking forward to him coming in and putting together the philosophy he wants to implement at La Real, and above all to help us,” he concluded.
