Moyes perfect for La Real says Kean

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean believes David Moyes will be the perfect choice as Real Sociedad boss.

Kean was Chris Coleman’s assistant at Anoeta for the 2007-08 season and is confident it is the ideal job for the former Everton and Manchester United manager, who will be unveiled on Wednesday after taking his first training session.

“I spoke to David yesterday and he’s very excited so I think it’s a great move for him,” he told Sky Sports News.

“It just seems to fit, the way the club is, and he’ll find the work ethic of the players amazing. The Basque players love to work hard and that fits in with how David coaches.

“I know him well and he’s always wanted to work abroad and he’ll see this as a massive opportunity. Sociedad is a club that is very similar to Everton, although not so much with Manchester United.”

Kean feels Moyes will be impressed by how fanatical the fans are in San Sebastian and also by the facilities on offer at the club.

“The city is fanatical and he won’t be able to walk down the street. The fans are so positive and I’m sure he’ll love his time there as it’s a fantastic place to work.

“The facilities are also fantastic. The training ground is fantastic. What David will find, which was a bit of a culture shock when we were there, is that most of the training sessions are open to the fans, so you could have two or three thousand there as well as eight or nine television cameras.

“There are also the newspapers, which have 20 pages to fill about Sociedad every second day, so there’s massive spotlight on the club,” revealed Kean, who thinks Moyes is going to be impressed by the attitude of the players.

“He’ll love the work ethic of the Basque players. In my time we could be on the bus 15-16 hours coming back from southern Spain and the boys would want to get off at the end of it and train.

“They love to work and it doesn’t matter how many sessions he wants to put on, they’ll be there for every minute.”

Moyes will have no concerns regarding the language, according to Kean, as English is widely spoken by the locals.

“Unless you speak Basque, which is a very, very difficult language, they would rather you speak English than Spanish because they don’t feel Spanish,” he explained.
