Depor keen to fix tax problem

Deportivo La Coruna have taken steps to ensure the club’s future by working closely with the tax authorities and paying off their debt.

Marca reports that Deportivo and Hacienda, the Spanish Treasury, have been rebuilding their relationship as the tax office is club’s main creditor.

Under the club’s former President, Lendoiro, there was virtually no relationship, Marca reports, but the new board and President Tino Fernandez have opened the channels of communication and made a tax payment earlier this year.

A second payment has since been made as recently as last week and Depor have paid the authorities some €4.5m in total.

There is a vote on an injection of capital into the club to be held later in November and if the vote doesn’t pass, it could lead to further financial problems, but it is expected to go smoothly.
