Levante ‘came to win’

Levante Coach Lucas Alcaraz doesn’t want his side blamed for a fractious draw with Sevilla, insisting the visitors weren’t the cause.

The game ended 1-1 when Victor Casadesus capitalised on an error by goalkeeper Beto to score in the 85th minute and cancel out Vitolo’s first half opener.

“We have to analyse the game but we worked for the point in the second half,” Alcaraz said, Marca reports.

“If the match was prolonged by interruptions or bookings, it wasn’t us who caused it.

“We came to try and win the game by playing football, not to waste time.”

Alcaraz added that Levante have to learn to defend as a team and not leave the dirty work to the back line.

“Defensive work has to be shown by the group and not only the defenders,” he continued.

“In the second half we took a step forward against a team with good players, a good Coach and a team that demands a lot.”
