Emery: Sevilla lacked rhythm

Unai Emery didn’t feel Sevilla were ever at their best despite taking the lead in the 1-1 draw with struggling Levante.

Vitolo gave Los Rojiblancos a half-time lead but an error from Beto allowed Victor Casadesus to equalise with only five minutes to play, the goalkeeper having previously suffered a blow to the face.

“Levante make it a long match, 90 minutes, and we never found our rhythm,” Emery said after the match, AS report.

“In the first half, despite it being 1-0, the feeling was that we were not in the game. We should have held on in the second half but we needed a second goal.

“They had virtually no chances but free-kicks and corners but found the equaliser. It was expected. The match was going in that direction.

“The last 10 minutes we had character and the support of the people and they deserved for us to win the game.

“The draw hurts but we have two weeks to draw conclusions and do further work. I feel sorry for the fans, who came at a good time for the supporters and were very vocal.

“Levante though deserve credit for the equaliser for how they competed.”
