‘Espanyol will compete like animals’

Espanyol Coach Sergio believes home advantage will spur his team on to a battling performance against Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarine make the trip to Cornella El-Prat on Sunday on the back of three straight defeats, two in the League and one in the Europa League.

Sergio told reporters at his pre-match Press conference while his side aren’t in the best form either, without a win in three games, they will fight for everything.

“There is something magical about Cornella. At home we compete like animals and that is the way to go,” he said, AS reports.

“We were left with mixed feelings against Elche because we could have struck a blow on the table, but now we get another match.

“[After the match] the fans should be very proud and hopefully have enjoyed a victory.

“Keeping a clean sheet keeps the match alive and gives us the option to add points. Getting ahead is a unique feeling and being strong at the back will improve us in attack.

“They come here on a negative run of results and we have to do everything to keep it that way.”
