Marcelino: No more mistakes

Marcelino wants Villarreal to prove they have learned from the mistakes made against Zurich when they face Espanyol.

The Coach was critical of his players after the Europa League reverse but insisted at a pre-match Press conference that the match is in the past and what counts is there is an improvement.

“Every game is a different story and Thursday’s game is already in the past. In football you take into account the present and the immediate future,” he argued, AS reports.

“We have already talked about the mistakes of the last game to try and not make them again.

“We’re not giving away many chances but almost everything is turning into a goal. This won’t happen forever but we will try everything to make sure the opponent doesn’t score.

“[This will happen by] increasing the defensive intensity from the first minute to the last so our opponents are uncomfortable.

“Beyond the opponent, we must focus on ourselves, with the intensity and conviction we will win. It requires maximum effort for 90 minutes.”
