‘Bale & Isco both offer a lot’

Sergio Ramos doesn’t believe Real Madrid have to choose between Gareth Bale and Isco, arguing they both bring a lot to the team.

Ramos was speaking after Madrid dispatched Rayo Vallecano with Bale returning to the team in place of Isco and scoring inside 10 minutes.

The defender was also on target and rated the match as a good one for everyone involved on the winning side, with Madrid back top of the League.

“Overall it was a very complete team game,” he said, AS reports.

“It costs a lot to lead the table and to keep it because anything can happen in the League. We’re picking up victories and our goals are always positive.

“My goal was lucky? You have to be in there. There has been a bit of luck and I dedicate the goal to my mother. I’m very happy and want to continue this way. Now I focus on the national team.”

Ramos was looking for a second when Cristiano Ronaldo met Isco’s cross and, with the help of a fluff by goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez, found the net.

“I gave it to Isco and got in the race and I expected the courtesy of the return pass,” Ramos said, tongue-in-cheek.

“Strikers live for that. But there’s no need to worry, there’s a good vibe between me and Cristiano.”

On the question of Bale coming in for Isco, Ramos insists the different approaches they bring to the game will work in Madrid’s favour.

“In general it’s good to have that variety. You have to know how to handle them in the best way,” he continued.

“Today with Gareth we played more on the counter and Isco gives us more possession, but they both bring a lot to the team.

“We continue to work and evolve as a team. That’s ultimately what will give us the chance of winning trophies.”
