Contra: Escriba doing a great job

Getafe Coach Cosmin Contra has commended the work of his Elche counterpart Fran Escriba ahead of their meeting this weekend.

El Geta host Elche and Contra told his pre-match Press conference that he has been impressed with what he has seen from Los Franjiverdes, despite their lowly position.

“Elche are a team that work very well and are well-drilled defensively,” Contra said, AS reports.

“They have a lot of speed on the wings and they’re very dangerous on the break. They will put us in difficulty.

“I’ve seen the last four games they’ve played against top teams, teams in the Champions League, and at times in those games they’ve been pretty good.

“They caused difficulties for Valencia, for example.

“They deserve some points because they always perform better against good teams and Escriba has done a great job.

“I’m worried because Jonathas is in impeccable form and when a player gets on a roll he can be difficult to stop for an opposing defence.

“I think we have prepared well and we know how to stop him.”

Contra, who is without the suspended Alexis and the injured Alvaro Vazquez and Juan Valera, added that he hopes his side build on their victory over Deportivo La Coruna last time out.

“I’m hoping the team keep on the line of working and competing,” he continued.

“If we take the last game, which was our most comprehensive to date, and there we played without a No. 9, we can say we’re in good form and every day we have more confidence.

“Lately we’ve made a few changes, one or two, depending on the opponent and how we can hurt them.

“This worked great at Riazor and we have prepared this to a great extent.”
