Emery trusts in Deulofeu

Unai Emery has hinted that winger Gerard Deulofeu will get the nod in Thursday’s Europa League game against Standard Liege.

The youngster is on a season-long loan from Barcelona and Emery believes he could have a significant part to play against the Belgians.

“I’ve not selected the team but perhaps Deulofeu is a good bet at home as we’ll need to get behind them,” he told a Press conference.

“I’m satisfied with the form of both Gerard and Aleix Vidal, the two wide men, but it’s true Deulofeu requires a lot of attention [from the opposition], although we must find the right balance, as in everything.”

Only two points separate the four teams in Sevilla’s group and Emery is aware that his team has failed to produce the goods in the big games so far this season, as witnessed at Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

“When we come across these type of situations, as against Athletic, we must find a solution and it’s very difficult.

“However, if we win this match then our two draws away from home in this competition will look good.

“It will also put some distance between ourselves and Standard Liege, although nobody is going to go through to the next stage with two games still remaining.”

The injured Vicente Iborra is the Andalusian outfit’s only casualty for the clash, while the ineligible Cicinho and Cristoforo are unable to feature.

However, Emery is expected to make numerous changes to his starting line-up with one eye on Sunday’s home game against Levante.
