Young Athletic Bilbao striker Guillermo conceded his side was not good enough in the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Porto.
Guillermo replaced the injured Aritz Aduriz in Ernesto Valverde’s attack but lamented the fact that he and his teammates were unable to achieve the breakthrough against a very good Portuguese side.
“We gave everything, especially during the second half, but we just couldn’t turn things round. We didn’t play well,” he admitted to reporters after the game.
“In the first half they pinned us back but after the break we pushed up and controlled the ball more, although we still weren’t able to do it.
“I tried to help the team as best I could but in the end it came to nothing as we didn’t win.
“We now have to start thinking about the weekend and the game at Valencia,” he insisted.
