Chicharito ‘happy’ at Real Madrid

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez says he is happy at Real Madrid and chose the right option when he decided to join Los Blancos this summer.

The Mexican international is on a season-long loan from Manchester United and told ESPN’s Charla Dominical programme that he is relishing the challenge of proving his worth at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“They thought I couldn’t help any more at United so we decided by mutual agreement that I would leave,” disclosed striker Hernandez.

“It was difficult, although I had offers from other teams, but when I got the opportunity to come to Real Madrid I didn’t hesitate.

“It was the toughest challenge and the one that gave me the least chances [of first team football], but these are the challenges I like and the ones I’ve worked for all my life.

“I dreamed of being here. How am I going to say no to the best club in the world?” he asked.

The 26-year-old, who has scored three times in the 144 minutes he has played in La Liga, revealed he was welcomed with open arms in the dressing room.

“I was aware ofthe quality of the players here and they have received me really well. Some of them I knew because I’d already played against them at national team and club level.

“Here it does not matter where you’ve come from because everyone makes you feel welcome. From the first day I arrived I was treated very well.”

Hernandez is mindful of the facthe faces a hard task trying to dislodge the in-form Karim Benzema from Carlo Ancelotti’s starting line-up. Nonetheless, he believes he has what it takes to be a success in the Spanish capital.

“Why can’t I play here? I have the talent andI’llwork hard to show I belong at such a great institution.

“I hope some positive things happen, both to the club and myself,” he concluded.
