Alcaraz: Levante will suffer

Lucas Alcaraz is ready for a season of suffering despite Levante scoring their first home goals of the season in the win over Almeria.

David Barral broke the deadlock and Victor Casadesus added a second either side of a goal from Jonathan to give Les Granotes a crucial three points.

Alcaraz, who replaced Jose Luis Mendilibar in October, told reporters after the final whistle that his players needed to loosen up a bit in order to find the net in front of their own fans.

“When Wellington went close at the end I was fearing they might score,” he said, AS reports.

“Both teams were strong in something, them in possession and us in the chances we created.

“We were able to score twice when scoring at home has been a lot of work. The players were a little gripped by tension.

“My sense is we will suffer a lot this season but that’s not something that should surprise seeing as how the campaign is developing.”

The game was Alcaraz’s first as Levante Coach at Ciutat de Valencia and he thanked the supporters for their backing.

“The fans were great. The relationship with the team has been very good and they are connected to the team,” he noted.

“I want to help us have more confidence and although we will suffer a lot and we have to improve results, we have the motivation and strength to move forward.”
