Diego Simeone believes Antoine Griezmann is reaping the rewards of working hard as he hits the goal trail for Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann scored twice in Atletico’s 4-2 win over Cordoba and drew praise from the Coach post-match when Cholo spoke with reporters.
“He has been training well and his growth is due to the work he is doing every day,” he said, AS reports.
“He had a complete game from all aspects, not just scoring. But there are plenty of valid reasons for the match we expect from him.”
It was put to Simeone that Atletico are finding their form and he agreed that the team has picked up over recent weeks.
“It wasn’t easy to start the season with the Supercopa,” he recalled.
“The team retains consistency and is doing more beyond the set-pieces. We’ve grown and we have more continuity in the game.
“We’re playing well between the lines. The wide players and Mario Mandzukic and Griezmann are having more involvement.
“We’ve improved since the game against Sevilla. We have more intensity and play more and in the end, teams end up giving in.”
