‘Early goals killed Granada’

Granada Coach Joaquin Caparros lamented the early goals conceded by his side against Real Madrid after a heavy defeat.

Madrid won 4-0 and the scoring opened inside two minutes when Dani Carvajal regained possession on the touchline and, seconds later, Cristiano Ronaldo found the net, with Jeison Murillo complaining he was fouled by Carvajal.

“We prepared to go forward in the match but the first goal crushed us,” Caparros said, AS reports.

“The result is harsh. We deserved to score but the early goal broke us.

“We wanted to compete. I don’t know if there is a foul or not but we didn’t get started. Then we did and we couldn’t score.

“Perhaps with a goal we would have gotten into the game.

“We wanted to compete but the first and second goals killed us. They can’t score a goal like they did, the second, from a throw-in.”

Caparros also touched on the controversy from the pre-match, when he complained about comments he was alleged to have made to Marca by ripping up the offending front cover.

“I apologise for that. There are people there who have helped me,” he said.

“It’s not my approach. And I won’t talk any more about it.”
