Cosmin Contra doesn’t believe Getafe have played better all season than they did in the 2-1 away win over Deportivo La Coruna.
A Fabricio own goal and a goal early in the second half from Angel Lafita gave El Geta victory, with Helder Postiga pulling one back late on for the hosts.
“It was the best game of the season. The players worked hard and we prepared well, knowing that if we let Deportivo play they were going to create a lot of problems,” Contra said, Marca reports.
“I have to congratulate the players. We suffered towards the end and we should have sealed the game earlier. We had our chances and we didn’t score enough goals.
“We prepared to play on the counter-attack because we have players with a lot of speed, players who give the final pass and everyone understood exactly what we prepared for during the week.
“At 1-0 we felt very comfortable with the spaces we created and we understood how well you have to play against Deportivo.
“We didn’t stop playing. It’s not that they were fragile, we didn’t let them play and we have tried to fight for every ball.”
