Murillo: No fear of Madrid

Granada defender Jeison Murillo says there is nothing to fear about Real Madrid despite acknowledging the size of the task faced by his team.

Free-scoring Madrid travel to Los Carmenes on Saturday with the hosts currently at the lower end of mid-table and Los Blancos chasing down joint-League leaders Barcelona and Sevilla.

In an interview with AS, Murillo has said that at home, Granada need to do what they can to beat Madrid, arguing that this is what they have worked for all week.

“I don’t think it’s anything extraordinary. It’s just another game,” he said.

“It’s a beautiful and important game and we have to take it seriously and be willing to do what it takes to get the result we want, and more so since we’re at home.

“But it’s the end of a working week and we have worked for this 90 minutes.”

Asked how to beat Madrid, Murillo said the first thing Granada have to do is find their scoring form.

“Goals are what we are missing. The Coach has done a great job so that Madrid won’t be able to develop their football and I think we will have to give everything.

“My teammates are working hard and have the ambition of scoring in every game, but haven’t had the chance.

“Lately we’ve been unlucky but hopefully we’ve saved the goals for Madrid.

“We have no fear, just fear of God. We have great respect for all our opponents and of course for Madrid, who have a high level of players.

“We’re not afraid and we put a lot of faith into our work. A team like Madrid can win a game in any way.

“All their weapons are equally dangerous. If you focus on one, another settles it. We have to work hard, defend well, and think of ourselves.”
