Negredo happy to be back

Alvaro Negredo thanked the medical teams of Manchester City and Valencia after making his return from injury.

Negredo suffered a broken foot late in pre-season but still completed a loan move from City to Valencia and was only able to debut on Saturday against Elche, playing the last seven minutes.

“It was important to beat Elche. I’m very happy to be back,” he said, AS reports.

“It’s been three very hard months. I’m trying to pick up the pace and get into the team.

“I really wanted to play. I was with the kids and little by little I’ve relaxed. It’s been three very hard months and I have to thank everyone who worked on my recovery, both in Manchester and Valencia.”

Negredo acknowledged that he faces a tough challenge getting a regular place in the Valencia side but insisted the team’s results take precedence over his playing time.

“It’s a challenge but I want to continue to get better. We’re in a positive trend and it’s difficult to get into the team, but I trust I’ll get minutes,” he added.

“What matters is the team and what’s most important are the three points, and then me returning and getting minutes.

“Everything went well. I want to give my best and to make the fans happy. We have to be strong at home. The fans’ reaction to me gave me goose bumps.”
