Ancelotti ‘couldn’t coach Barca’

Carlo Ancelotti believes he could never take charge at Barcelona after sitting on the bench at Real Madrid.

The Coach was speaking on Cadena Ser, with his comments reported by AS. Ancelotti revealed his likely team for Saturday’s Clasico as well as which Barca player he would sign if possible.

On the subject of his Madrid future, Ancelotti said there’s no chance he becomes the Sir Alex Ferguson of Los Blancos, but would happily retire in the Spanish capital.

“It’s unthinkable to have 24 years at a club,” he said of the long-serving Manchester United manager.

“But I would like to end my career in Madrid.

“I’ve won a lot in my career. I’m enjoying coaching Madrid, because there isn’t a bigger club.

“You have to work hard to stay here for a long time. I have a really good relationship with Florentino Perez.

“From the beginning he has shown me love and we have been in agreement.

“I like to compare Florentino with [Milan owner] Silvio Berlusconi. They’re fans.

“It’s different from buying a team, like Roman Abramovich or Nasser Al Khelaifi, who become fans over time.

“Florentino has never told me who to pick. Berlusconi has called me, I’ve told him who was playing and he has wondered why…

“Players wanting new positions? Sergio Ramos wants to play as a striker! He likes to play in attack and he has the quality for it.

“I could play him in midfield…maybe it’s a change for Saturday!”

Ancelotti was asked which Primera Coaches could become the Ferguson of Spain – Diego Simeone, Paco Jemez or Ernesto Valverde.

“It’s hard to choose,” he replied.

“Simeone has won the League, Valverde qualified for the Champions League and Rayo play fantastic football.

“I tell people they have to see Rayo play, because it is fantastic. Rayo have courage and are the best way to explain Spanish football.

“Coach Barcelona? If you coach Madrid you can never coach Barcelona. I have to respect the history of the club I’ve trained.

“Sign anyone from Barca? It has to be Lionel Messi.”
