Ronaldo proud over Liverpool goal

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken of his pride at scoring against Liverpool in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win.

The Portuguese opened the scoring and a Karim Benzema brace finished it off, with Ronaldo netting for the first time at Anfield, having previously drawn blanks for Manchester United.

“It was special, it was my first goal here at Anfield so I feel very proud for that,” he told Sky Sports.

“I feel happy – we win and three points so amazing. We knew before the game that Anfield is a difficult place but I think that we played fantastic, especially in the first 45 minutes and we deserved to win.

“The best thing it’s a team win, we have nine points so 75 per cent of the qualification is done.”

Asked if Madrid can become the first team of modern times to retain the Champions League, Ronaldo agreed it’s possible.

“Why not? We are thinking step by step, we know qualification is the priority of the team but we are going to try like last year,” he continued.

“We know it’s going to be very tough but we are positive and I think it will be possible if we play like that.”
