Deulofeu: Emery lives for football

Sevilla winger Gerard Deulofeu has praised boss Unai Emery and revealed how he ‘lives for football’.

The 20-year-old is on a season-long loan at the Sanchez Pizjuan from Barcelona and, before heading off to Belgium for the club’s Europa League clash with Standard Liege, told reporters he could not have imagined how well things had gone.

“I didn’t think things would go so well here, although I knew it was a good team that was very competitive.

“But right now we must be relaxed because it is a very long season and we have to keep giving a good account of ourselves in order to take points.

“The boss has been brilliant. He is a hard worker who lives for football and he gets that over to us.

“He knows what to do and it’s going very well,” said Deulofeu, who acknowledged it was an important year for him on a personal level.

“Everybody enjoys playing and getting as many minutes as they can, although sometimes that isn’t possible.

“I’ve already told the Coach it’s a process of adaptation for me,” he concluded.
