‘Neymar’s father pocketed €3m’

Former Santos President Luis Alvaro de Oliveira has accused Neymar’s father of pocketing €3m before the 2011 Club World Cup in Japan.

In an interview with Cadena COPE on Monday, De Oliveira claimed the player’s father received the money from Barcelona before the two clubs met in the competition, when Neymar was still in the Santos team.

“In full agreement with Santos his father received the money before the final, which was the most important game for Santos this century.

“A player cannot play against a team that has already paid him €3m,” he declared in comments reported by Sport.

The publication asserts that the former President started a personal war against the Neymar family some months ago, with some of his statements having got him into trouble with the law.

De Oliveira was ordered to pay €6,437 to Neymar’s father for defamation of character after saying in an interview that he ‘was a mercenary and a liar’ and that the money he had made from the transfer of his son was ‘spent on orgies in luxury London hotels’.
