Raul agrees New York Cosmos deal

Former Real Madrid striker Raul has reached an agreement to play for New York Cosmos from January 2015.

According to AS, the 37-year-old will travel to the United States this week to put pen to paper on his new contract, which will commit him to the club for at least the next two seasons.

Raul will now combine playing in the North American Soccer League with coaching Cosmos’ youth team, to be launched in the New Year, having previously announced he would be retiring from professional football at the end of the Qatari season, where he had been playing for Al Sadd.

It is understood the Madrid legend paid a visit to New York at the beginning of October, where he inspected the club’s training headquarters and met the players as well as boss Giovani Savarese during his stay.
