Contra: Getafe showed character

Getafe boss Cosmin Contra felt his team showed character after coming from a goal down to claim a late 2-1 victory at Real Sociedad.

Substitute Pablo Hervias’ 82nd-minute goal looked like giving the Basques just their second win of the season, only for French midfielder Abdoul Yoda to score twice in the dying stages to hand Getafe victory.

Yoda levelled in the final seconds of the 90 minutes with a well-placed shot, then added the finishing touch to a Jorge Sammir run to snatch all three points with almost the last kick of the game.

“We prepared very well for this game. We knew La Real needed points and would be nervous, that they would come at us from the start, but we began pretty well,” the Romanian told reporters immediately afterwards.

“We put in a lot of effort and the players showed great character to be able to turns things round, so congratulations to them because these are three very important points.”

Contra was asked what the victory meant for Getafe.

“This will give the players more reassurance and confidence as we won at a very difficult ground against a great team,” he replied.
