Fran Escriba was happy with the performance in the defeat to Sevilla, not the result, and wants to move on to the next game.
Los Rojiblancos took a 2-0 win from Martinez Valero through goals from Carlos Bacca and Kevin Gameiro, but Escriba believes Elche gave a good account of themselves.
“We played a good game. Sevilla were comfortable when it was 1-0 and the goal hurt us,” he said, AS reports.
“I’m happy with the players if not the result, which is the worst part. Sevilla are a far superior team to us but we competed well.”
Escriba rejected the chance to criticise the referee, Prieto Iglesias, for decisions made in the match, even though Adrian was denied a penalty.
“Talking about referees leads nowhere, either good or bad,” he replied.
“We’ve played a game that only detracts from the result. We fought to the end and it’s not a day of reproach.
“We have another difficult game next week, against Valencia, and we will try to score points to get out of the relegation zone as soon as possible.”
