Report: Bale a doubt to play Liverpool

Reports in Spain say Real Madrid could be without Gareth Bale against Liverpool in the Champions League this week.

AS says the Wales international is suffering from a buttock injury and that is why he didn’t take to the field against Levante this weekend.

It’s said that Bale could miss the game against the Reds so as not to risk his fitness for the Clasico, with Barcelona visiting Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

More will be known about Bale’s fitness on Monday and Tuesday as Madrid train ahead of the trip to Anfield.

Should Bale not make it, Isco would continue in the side in the same approach as against Les Granotes.

James Rodriguez would take Bale’s place on the right of the attack and Isco would replace James to the left of the midfield.

Sergio Ramos is also a doubt for the game, having missed the last few matches for club and country, but Raphael Varane, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema are expected to be fit.

Varane and Benzema missed the Levante match with a fever while Modric was replaced towards the end of the 5-0 win with a knock to his ankle.

All three have however been able to train without complaint and are expected to be involved.
