Marcelino wary of Almeria speed

Villarreal Coach Marcelino believes his side need to pay heed to the pace of Almeria on the counter-attack when they meet on Sunday.

Marcelino told his pre-match Press conference that if his team are sloppy in their approach, they’ll play straight into Almeria’s hands.

“They’re a strong team away from home, with speed and a great counter-attack,” he said, AS reports.

“We need to make the right decisions and not give them any advantage, to attack well and with discretion, and not to lose balls that encourage their counters.

“They have a good strategy and get the ball to Verza, who will use it well. They have a good tempo and they’re strong in the tackle, so they will demand a lot physically.”

Marcelino added that he believes the squad can cope with the League, Europa League and Copa Del Rey, thanks to the work done over the summer.

“We increased the workforce to match the three competitions,” he recalled.

“Now we are concerned with Almeria in the League and the Europa League, which will be very difficult.”
