‘Lucas Silva would suit Madrid’

Cruzeiro striker Julio Baptista feels his teammate Lucas Silva would ‘suit Real Madrid very nicely’.

Midfielder Silva has been strongly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this week as a replacement for Sami Khedira, something that caused quite a stir in his native Brazil, and Baptista told Marca the 21-year-old has what it takes to be a success in La Liga.

“He is already a leader at this club and is ready to make the giant leap to Europe and to a big club like Madrid, but he needs time to settle in as it’s not an easy club to go to,” declared Baptista, himself a former Madrid player who also represented Sevilla, Arsenal, Roma and Malaga.

“In terms of football ability there’s no doubt he’d suit a team like them very nicely as he’s a player who is overflowing with talent.

“Personally, I’ll be a Madrid fan all my life. It’s a club that leaves its mark on you, although I didn’t do as well there as I’d have liked,” he admitted.
