Eibar seeking Camp Nou upset

Eibar central midfielder Javi Lara says his team are going to the Camp Nou on Saturday hoping to cause an upset against Barcelona.

The 28-year-old, experiencing his debut season in La Primera, is aware Luis Enrique’s team are clear favourites but told a Press conference that recently-promoted Eibar must try and take points wherever they can.

“We are going to scrape points from anywhere. The important thing is to get them. We are looking forward to going there and causing an upset,” he declared.

Lara says it is a dream come true to be playing at some of the top stadiums in the world and believes that so far his team has given a good account of themselves.

“It has been special coming into training every day knowing you are with a top-flight team, so it’s a dream to be facing Barca and all the other great sides.

“At the Vicente Calderon as well as San Mames we did well and showed great intensity, without giving up trying to play football.

“We know we are going to suffer a lot but from day one we’ve worked hard and all the players are in this together,” insisted Lara, who maintained he will not be frightened by the size of the Camp Nou.

“It’s great. It would scare me more going to a Segunda B ground with only 100 spectators in the stands.

“It’s something that should be enjoyed, whether we are up against Barcelona or any other opponent.”
