Suarez collects Golden Shoe award

Luis Suarez was presented with the Golden Shoe award by Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish at a ceremony in Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The Uruguayan scored 31 goals for the Anfield giants last season and shared the honour -presented to the top scorer in the major European Leagues and formerly known as the Golden Boot – with Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted 31 times for Real Madrid.

“My three-and-a-half years there were fantastic and I would not have won this without my former teammates.

“I would also like to thank the man who brought me to the club,” Suarez told the audience as he looked over at former Reds’ boss Dalglish, who was asked if he thought Luis would be a success in Spain.

“I don't think there is anyone who can stop him. He was brilliant at Ajax and Liverpool and I'm sure he will be success here.

“If it doesn't work out he can always come back to Liverpool on loan,” joked the Scot.
