Barca to rest Messi and Neymar?

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is considering whether to rest both Lionel Messi and Neymar for this weekend’s game with Eibar.

A report in AS claims the pair could start on the bench at the Camp Nou, having accumulated tiredness due to their trips to the other side of the world for their national team’s friendlies this week.

Neymar completed 180 minutes for Brazil against Argentina and Japan, while Messi sat out the first hour of his country’s game with Hong Kong yesterday.

Both are due to join up with the rest of the Barca squad on Wednesday, as the club has given them permission to take their time coming back following long journeys that included stop-overs.

Messi has played in all of the Catalans’ games this season – seven in La Liga and two Champions League matches – with Neymar featuring in just one fewer, and Enrique is aware there are a tough few weeks ahead for all his players.

A visit from Ajax next Tuesday will be followed by the first Clasico of the season on October 25, where the Blaugrana will be hoping to consolidate their advantage over eternal rivals Madrid even at this early stage of the season.
