Sergio Ramos to miss Levante game?

Defender Sergio Ramos is almost certain to miss Real Madrid’s game against Levante at the weekend.

Ramos was diagnosed with a slight tear to his right calf muscle after meeting up with the Spain squad last week ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg, when it was decided to release him from La Roja’s training camp.

The 28-year-old returned to Madrid for treatment with the club’s physiotherapists but looks set to be rested for Levante, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men face a Champions League game with Liverpool on October 22 and the Clasico against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu three days later.

Club doctors are reluctant to risk Ramos if he is not 100 per cent fit and are even prepared to advise he misses the trip to Anfield so he is ready for the Barca clash, although the player himself remains optimistic.

“Double session today with the great Pedro Chueca. Feeling fab. Comeback is getting closer. Got to keep going,” Ramos posted on social media.
