Suarez nets Uruguay brace

In what was perhaps his last match before his four-month ban expires, Luis Suarez was on target twice for Uruguay in a friendly with Oman.

The Barcelona striker played 77 minutes of his country’s 3-0 friendly win over the Middle East nation on Monday and appeared in good shape for his return to competitive League action on October 25, netting in the 57th and 67th minutes.

Suarez was hit with the ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup in Brazil this summer. Since then he has only been involved in training sessions with Barca and a 6-0 friendly win over Indonesia Under-19s, where he also scored twice.

The 27-year-old has not found the net for his national team since Brazil, his double against England helping Uruguay qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, while in total he has scored 42 goals in 79 appearances for his country.
