Paco Alcacer questioned the merit of Slovakia’s win over Spain, arguing the victors’ first half performance was inconsequential.
Slovakia were leading at the break after Iker Casillas failed to stop Juraj Kucka’s long-range free kick while an Alcacer goal levelled the scores late in the match.
Miroslav Stoch netted later still to deny La Roja a point, unfairly, Alcacer told reporters after the match.
“I don’t think they did anything in the first half. They only had a free kick that, well…,” he said, AS reports.
“And then we wanted to go for the win despite having the draw and on a counter-attack they made it 2-1. We wanted the second goal and didn’t have many players back and that led to the defeat.”
Alcacer added that he hopes to get more chances to represent Spain, winning his third cap on Thursday night and claiming his second goal.
“When I get the chance I try to take it,” he said.
“There are enough games to turn around this result and I think the results will be right when we correct the mistakes.”
