Lass flees Guinea camp due to Ebola

Rayo Vallecano winger Lass Bangoura has abandoned the Guinea squad following the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus.

The 22-year-old [pictured, right] made the decision as a precautionary measure due to the many cases that have appeared in his homeland that have prevented the Guinea team from playing matches on home soil.

The African nation have been forced to take home games to Morocco and were scheduled to meet Ghana there this Saturday.

However, with Rayo’s chief executive Luis Yanez having raised his concerns to Bangoura regarding the trip some days ago, the player has taken note and pulled out of Michel Dussuyer’s squad.

Yanez had made it clear to Bangoura that the decision was entirely his own, although he is disappointed to have had to make it.

“There is no fear. I’ve explained to the club that the border is fenced off.

“However, I don’t want any problems with Rayo and everything is under control,” he told El Larguero.
