Pique rules out United return

Former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique has ruled out a return to Old Trafford and intends to remain with Barcelona.

Despite having started only three times this season and having fallen behind Jeremy Mathieu and Javier Mascherano in the pecking order, Pique insists he is enjoying life at the Camp Nou and is going nowhere.

“I love this club for its history, its style of play and the connection to Catalonia,” said the 27-year-old in comments published by the Daily Mail.

“I love it here and right now I’m at the best club in the world. I’ve no intention of leaving now or later.

“I’ve just signed a new contract and I want to retire with Barca, just like Carles Puyol did.

“Nobody knows what the future holds but at the moment I’m loving the city, the people at the club and, most importantly, the institution.

“I don’t see myself leaving,” confirmed Pique, who has been linked with a move to the Red Devils since the start of the season.
