Berizzo: Defeat unfair on Celta

Eduardo Berizzo doesn’t believe Celta Vigo deserved to lose 3-1 at Balaidos against Villarreal.

Two first half goals from Moi Gomez gave the Yellow Submarine an early lead and though Joaquin Larrivey pulled a goal back, a red card for Andreu Fontas gave Celta an uphill task.

Mario scored in injury time to wrap up the game but speaking following the final whistle, Berizzo was largely positive.

“I’m upset with the final result but happy with the performance of my players. The defeat was harsh,” he said, Marca reports.

“We lost a ball in midfield and the next minute we were 2-0 down. But we had aggression and courage.

“The result doesn’t correspond with what was seen on the field, with Celta dominating the match and the opponent pushed back in the first and second halves.

“I leave with the feeling that the team was brave and bold. We played the game we planned.

“Letting in two goals in two minutes hurt us but still then we didn’t let Villarreal out of their half.”
