Gracia: It wasn’t a penalty

Javi Gracia believes Granada were hard done by as they lost to his Malaga team through a controversial penalty.

Antunes converted the late spot kick to give Malaga a 2-1 win after Granada took the lead inside the first minute.

Roque Santa Cruz levelled the scores while Marcos Angeleri was dismissed but Malaga took the points regardless.

“Conceding so early left us with a heavy heart,” Gracia said, Marca reports.

“Granada do a great job defensively but our work was commendable when we were outnumbered.”

Gracia’s decision to swap Nordim Amrabat for Samu Castillejo was jeered by the fans, but Gracia was philosophical about the criticism.

“You can’t please every fan. I thought the change gave mobility and speed to the team and Amrabat gets booked a lot as well,” he explained.

“The win is important, especially the way the opposition started. We can take confidence and enjoy the victory.

“I didn’t think it was a penalty.”
