Fran Escriba was disappointed but accepting of Elche’s draw with Almeria and refused to criticise the referee in a controversial game.
Almeria were awarded a penalty for an incident that appeared to be outside the area, while also had goal scorer Jonathas sent off when they were leading 2-1.
“I prefer the image of the team,” Escriba said, according to AS, when questioned about the officiating of Del Cerro Grande.
“We’re happy but disappointed with the result because we expected to get three points. When you concede so you’re drawing at the time we did, you’re left with that feeling, but it was difficult to hold on to the result.
“Del Cerro Grande is an excellent referee, one of the best we have. I don’t know if he means to get things wrong but we all do it.”
