Valencia vow to ban object-throwers

Valencia have a released a statement vowing to ban anyone who can be identified as having thrown an object at the Atletico Madrid coach.

The champions were beaten 3-1 at Mestalla but the pre-game was marred by the violent welcome afforded Diego Simeone’s side.

Valencia’s statement says the club will ban from the stadium anyone found to have thrown objects at the team bus.

“Valencia deeply regret the throwing of objects at the Atletico team bus,” the statement, on Valencia’s official website says.

“The club will use all measures at its disposal, working with law enforcement, to track down the perpetrators of the incident, and if identified, prevent them from entering the stadium.

“The club wishes to state the great atmosphere in the stadium, the extraordinary animation and good behaviour of the supporters and it should not be tarnished by the actions of individuals who do not represent our great supporters.

“Valencia promote a programme of fair play and respect for the opponent and cannot pass without condemning these incidents and trying to identify who was responsible.”
