Sevilla Coach Unai Emery has lamented the red card shown to Timothee Kolodziejczak in the 2-2 Europa League draw with Riejka.
The holders were in front through an Iago Aspas goal but had Kolo sent off, with the score levelled from the resulting penalty.
Riejka went in front thereafter and held the lead until the final moments, when Stephane Mbia salvaged a draw for Los Rojiblancos.
“We knew it would be a tough match,” Emery said following the final whistle, AS reports.
“The game was under control and we knew we had to wait for our moment. We had to score a second goal but the red card and penalty changed the game.
“With one player fewer we wanted to remain strong. The team worked hard but we didn’t attack with clarity.
“We’re not happy but we have to have optimism we can improve.
“We have to help Kolo because he has to go through a process. With this result and one player fewer we have to look forward.
“It’s true that we played too much direct football but we can grow and learn from this game.”
