‘Villarreal win for Marcelino’

Villarreal assistant Coach Ruben Uria dedicated the team’s Europa League win over Apollon Limassol to Marcelino.

The Coach missed missed the match after the death of his father, with Uria filling in on the bench to oversee a 4-0 victory, Gerard Moreno and Javier Espinosa each claiming a brace.

“I want to dedicate this victory to Marcelino, to him and his family as he is having a hard time, as are we,” Uria said, AS reports.

“Regarding the game, we were superior throughout the match. They’re a rival who can be complicated, because they player on the counter-attack, but we controlled all facets of the game.

“Above all, the most important thing is that the defence was pretty good, vigilant and always aborting the opponents’ actions.

“It’s important to start as we have done and we knew the point we got [against Borussia Monchengladbach] was going to be good if we won today. And now we know what’s coming.”
