Report: Rodrigo to be in Spain squad

Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno is expected to today be named in the Spain squad for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

Vicente Del Bosque will reveal the squad for the games around lunchtime and Rodrigo is expected to be part of it, having been pencilled in for the last round of internationals before a hamstring injury forced his absence.

The 23-year-old was prolific at Under-21 level, scoring 15 goals in 15 appearances, and is said to be highly thought of by Coaches at the youth level.

Rodrigo could be joined by teammate Paco Alcacer, who made a scoring debut in La Roja’s last game, a win at Ciutat de Valencia over Macedonia.

It remains to be seen if Diego Costa will be called up by Del Bosque after his manager at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, asked for the striker to be rested due to injury.

But the Blues didn’t report Costa as injured after their midweek Champions League fixture and he’s expected to play this weekend against Arsenal, a game Marca says the Spain camp will be watching closely.

Andres Iniesta is expected to return to the squad after dropping out of the last get-together due to injury.
