Levante not divided insists Gavilan

Levante midfielder Jaime Gavilan has defended boss Jose Luis Mendilibar and also insisted there are no divisions at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Los Graneros face Eibar at the weekend amid rumours that all is not well in the dressing room after a poor start to the season, although it’s an accusation Gavilan denies.

“This thing that we have a divided dressing room has come out through the Press and media but it’s not like that. We are all right behind Mendilibar.

“Everybody’s aim is to win on Saturday and if we get something from Eibar then everything will look different,” he told a Press conference.

Gavilan believes Levante were handed a tough start to the La Liga season, making it difficult for them to pick up any momentum.

“It was a hard start because we were playing against teams that are in Europe so it’s obvious we’ve not done as well as we’d have liked.

“We hope to get all three points against Eibar because we are Levante and we’ve been in this League longer than them, so we need to reverse this situation.

“It won’t be easy because, although everybody thought they’d be candidates for relegation, they’ve taken points where they weren’t expected to.

“We’ll have to play well as they are a very settled team,” he added.
