‘Madrid more important than goals’

Karim Benzema was more interested in Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League win over Ludogorets than his own personal goal tally.

Benzema scored the game’s decisive goal and spoke to reporters after the match, questioning the belief that he’s been goal-shy lately but insisting it’s the result that matters most.

“I don’t know if there’s been a lack of goals but the important thing is the game,” he said, AS reports.

“Scoring goals is good but you have to do the job to help the team and your teammates.

“Winning here was complicated because Ludogorets are strong and had a lot of intensity. It’s great for us that we got the three points.”
