Former Barcelona full-back Maxwell believes his inside knowledge of Lionel Messi and Neymar can help Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out of the game due to injury, Maxwell is one of the most anticipated 'old friends' that La Blaugrana will meet in Paris.
Having played for both Barcelona and Brazil, he has first-hand experience of his strongest rivals and the PSG defender spoke about how to confront Barca and what to do about their star forwards.
“Barcelona recovered their strength, the couple formed by Neymar and Messi can surprise you with anything,” he said.
“It's always difficult to play against footballers of this level, capable of combining together so well. I know both of them and this can help us stop them,though they really are special players.
“The main thing is not to leave open spaces, because if those two don't exploit them, other players will.”
Maxwell declared that PSG would not be intimidated and intended to stick to their principles regardless of the opposition.
“To win a game like that against Barca we will need the highest intensity and aggression, and we'll have to stay true to our philosophy of holding the ball,” he added.
“That they managed to go from the beginning of the season without conceding any goals at all is an impressive record, but sooner or later the day will come when a team is going to score against them. I'm hoping that's going to be us.”
