‘Depor loss undeserved & unjust’

Victor Fernandez has raged against Deportivo La Coruna’s late defeat to Almeria, complaining that his side were statistically the better.

Edgar Mendez scored in the third minute of injury time to give Los Rojiblancos the points at Riazor,

Speaking to reporters after the match, Fernandez insisted his side warranted a better result for their performance.

“We’ve been hit hard by adversity and misfortune. Statistically we exceeded our opponent,” AS reports the Coach saying.

“It was an absolutely undeserved and unjust punishment. It’s hard to recover when they get a goal in the 93rd minute. Their shot hit the crossbar and went in but ours wouldn’t.”

Fernandez also lamented the knocks picked up by his side, revealing he had to use his substitutions to account for injuries and that Helder Postiga played on despite a muscle problem.

He added that despite having only four points out of a possible 24, in his mind, Depor deserve more.

“We have merited more points. Results and misfortune are testing us,” Fernandez concluded.
