Abalo dreaming of Madrid goal

Ludogorets’ Dani Abalo is relishing the chance to play against Real Madrid in the Champions League and aims to score against the holders.

The Galicia-born winger moved to Ludogorets a year ago and in an interview with AS, looked forward to playing Los Blancos.

Abalo insisted Luodgorets were going to enjoy the experience, offering a little of the team’s game plan.

“It’s a game to enjoy. It will be complicated to get anything against Madrid but we have to enjoy it,” he said.

“If we play like we did against Liverpool, they will suffer. But it will be difficult.

“We can hurt Madrid by keeping the ball. The problem is not to get caught on the break.

“It would be a dream to score against Madrid. I’d love to score another goal in the Champions League and above all, against the holders. It would be the greatest.

“I don’t think the Navas-Casillas debate suits Madrid. I’d choose to score against Iker, who has done so much for Madrid and for Spain.

“Even though Sofia is so far from Razgrad, the stadium will be full and there will be the same atmosphere as against Steaua. The people from Sofia will support us.”

The win over Steaua was notable for the performance of Cosmin Monti, the centre-back who was forced in goal and made two saves in the shootout.

“A defender saved two penalties. I’ve never seen anything like it! There were a lot of jokes about that,” Abalo recalled.
