Nuno ‘proud’ of Valencia

Nuno Santo had no complaints over the draw with Real Sociedad, accepting that the hosts were the better side.

Carles Gil gave Los Che the lead but Sergio Canales equalised before half-time, after which Nuno admitted La Real had his team on the back foot.

“It’s true they were better. It was a tough game,” he added.

“We played a great match against a great team with a very clear idea of football.

“[After Canales’ goal] they had more of the ball and took a step forward. It’s true that after they scored they had control of the game. It was difficult for us to get possession.

“But I’m proud and satisfied with the work of the players. After every match I get the game stats and they’re all running a lot. I’m proud of them all.”

Goalkeeper Diego Alves was singled out for his display, Nuno agreeing the Brazilian played a crucial role in the result.

“Diego had a great game. He was decisive,” the Portuguese continued.

“He did a great job. He’s a great goalkeeper and we’re very pleased with him.”
